The York County Meals on Wheels program is a recognized 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization. The entire Meals on Wheels Board, Co-Directors, and drivers are all dedicated volunteers.
There is no York County Meals on Wheels physical office as meals are picked up Monday-Friday from a nearby caterer and delivered to a designated relay point where meals are transferred to drivers for delivery.
The drivers are the unsung heroes, devoting their time, automobiles, and gas again and again to make a positive difference in our senior citizens’ lives. Volunteers deliver meals along with a wellness check for many who don’t have family in the area.
According to the most recent demographics data available from the Census Bureau, nearly 20% of York County’s population of 66,000 is age 60 or older.
